Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Your son just came out as your daughter Mom hates me, can I have another? Mom hits me, can I have another? Wake up, fucked up in the front seat High School in my room was making blast beats Two shows on the motherfuckin radio Old traumas from like 20 years ago Hey dad don't mean to be a bother Your son just came out as your daughter Mom hits me, can I have another? I hate me, stay under the covers Wake up fucked in the front seat High School i was only making blast beats Two shows on the motherfuckin radio Old traumas from like 20 years ago Fucked up lost on the fucking highway I mean I might go a little far away Whenever I'm just going for a drive Wind up another state, another forest drive Call me when I'm by Lake Michigan Come home you don't even give a shit again Told me not to ask you for anything Get mad when I don't ask you for anything Too sad to even use the remote Two hours only binging kid's shows Get mad when I don't ask you for anything So I just ask you anything And mad I just said anything Too sad to even use the remote Too sad to even use the remote Too sad to even use the remote Whole days where I'm only binging kid's shows Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother Hey dad I don't mean to be a bother…

Cowboy Dan 04:36
Who's that in that eyesore round the block Hated by the neighborhood watch And I know they keep fighting round the clock Damn if the holes in drywall could just talk And Cowboy Dan he stands With a cigarette in hand With a cigarette in hand I feel like crying but know I can't And I can't stand that And Who's that in that eyesore round the block The holes in drywall wish that they'd shut up And I know they keep fighting round the clock So I'll keep on circling the block And Cowboy Dan he stands With a cigarette in hand With a cigarette in hand I feel like crying but know I can't And I can't stand that And all my friends are breaking up the bands Got their hair cut and Started working for the man And I'm not sure if there's a cure for this Or if god even exists. And Cowboy Dan he stands And Cowboy Dan he stands And Cowboy Dan he stands And Cowboy Dan he stands With a cigarette in hand with a cigarette in hand

about

Cashmere Washington is a multi-media project based out of Midland, Michigan. The goal is to have the moniker act as a vehicle for dynamic and various forms of art-making. The first release is a series of EPs that documents direct life experiences from the artist's childhood in Midland and answers "how did we get here?"

The first being The Shape Of Things To Come. A six song cathartic show & tell of the worst parts of life that feels like a victory lap. With themes delving in relationship abuse, childhood trauma, gender and identity told through tongue-in-cheek playful songwriting and sung with a smirk.

Cassettes available through:
fishpeoplebirds.bandcamp.com

Here's some nice words about the EP:

"Thomas became kin to me in Ypsilanti when we reckoned each others sprawling experimental practices. A deep student of equal parts Midwestern Emo, experimental MCs and the sprawling international beat scene - its always a pleasure to see them blend elements to create scream-alongable jams out of soul samples, recordings of voicemails, open 7th guitar chords, jazzier guitar chords, and banging drums. In this EP, a nod to Ornette Coleman, Thomas reckons the past and the future from a cathartic, cosmic vantage point. A post-emo album with some DJ-mustard style production in it, this album is the 4 am half asleep car bumper skid on the way into the proverbial taco bell for a good cry."
--Fishpeoplebirds

"The formal debut from Midland, Michigan’s Thomas Dunn II is an EP that’s been accurately called “post emo” (by their tape label) and “bedroom punk/hip-hop” (by Dunn). The Shape of Things to Come isn’t the first release to meld emo-adjacent rock and rap, but it distinguishes itself by committing to a lo-fi, fuzzy sound anchored by Dunn’s guitar playing, even in songs like “Last Year” where the hip-hop influence is particularly felt. If Cashmere Washington’s next releases (more EPs are forthcoming, per Dunn) live up to the promise that The Shape of Things to Come demonstrates, then perhaps it’ll just be the beginning. "
